The score sheet, on OBEC's own hundred.

Story Telling is judged out of 100 points, and this sheet uses exactly the five lines the district judges use: the story, 35 · vocabulary and structure, 20 · pronunciation, 20 · voice and expression, 20 · keeping to time, 5. Practice at home on the same scale you will be marked on in the district hall, and on the same scale we use in Khon Kaen.

It prints on one side of A4 in black and white, on the kind of printer a Thai school actually has. Take it and use it — for a classroom heat, for a school's own round, for a child rehearsing at the kitchen table. You do not need to ask us, and you do not need to credit us. Teachers: hand this to the child before they choose a story. Sixty of the hundred points are the English, not the plot.

SCRIPT. Five printed copies to the judges one day before, not on the day.   STAGE. No notes, props, costume, music or phone. School uniform. One child, alone.   MEDALS. By score, not rank: 80+ gold, 70–79 silver, 60–69 bronze. More than one gold in a room is normal.   THE SENTENCE. Every child goes home with one sentence from each judge. Write it as if their teacher will read it, because she will.
